Knitting a heart to help heal a heart

I just recently joined a knitting group which does monthly Knit alongs. I have mainly just been a lurker since joining because right now I have a lot of projects going on, but there was a post the other day which got my attention. One of the ladies who has been a member of the group for a long time lost her husband suddenly. Immediatly people in the group thought of making her some little knit squares with hearts on them and sending them to her so she could make an afghan out of them. Then it was decided that she wouldn't have time to sew them, so some really nice people stepped up to sew them together...Then someone volunteered to plan the whole thing out, and put the guidelines together for everyone. All of the squares are the same heart pattern, just different colors. The pattern looked simple enough for even the novice knitter I am, so I decided to do a couple, and I finished them pretty quickly this weekend. I'll mail them out today or tomorrow to be sewn together with the others. Then the afghan will be sent to the woman who's husband died. The thing is, I have never met any of these people in person, I haven't ever even talked to them except for the introductions at the beginning. I think it's great how the Internet has pulled people together for such a great thing. I'm glad I could be a part of it. I'm sure this greiving woman will feel much love and comfort when she's wrapped in the blanket so many others made for her.

What a sweet idea. I'm sure the recipient will appreciate it.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Oh, how I can relate to too many projects going on at once.
