Seeing Stars Block #7 and an Idea?

Here it is... block #7 in the Seeing Stars Quiltalong by Amandajean. I am having fun with this quiltalong, although none of my blocks are 'perfect'! I couldn't find any more of the dark pink batik I had been using, but I found a suitable alternative, and I think it will fit in to the plan well.

Have you met my sewing buddy, Buster? He lays by my feet most of the time when I'm at the computer or sewing. I had to trim his bangs so I could see his eyes better (he's not a show dog, so don't freak out!) He's so sweet... and funny... he likes to have 'crazy time' in the evening after the kids go to bed. He runs around like crazy, and likes to play fetch! Did ya know... the 'red-eye' fixer software doesn't work on dogs? I guess it's because they get 'green-eye' instead!
I have a question... What do you think of this idea? I'm looking for something like a lightweight simple tank-top dress style thing, not terrycloth... I got this pattern (Simplicity 2962), thinking I would make it, but several inches longer... what do you think?
Also, here's a cool thrifted linen/cotton skirt I found and took apart. I have two fairly large fabric pieces now. I love the colors in this fabric, and don't know what to do with it yet, but I love it! The last picture shows the colors more truly.

Now, on to block #8...

I also need to find a good accent fabric for Frank's Emmeline Apron. It's in two great batik fabrics, one is blue and green, the other is rainbow-ish... So I was thinking about a bright green batik but haven't found the right one yet. I want to get his apron done really quickly, so he can wear something cheerful around the house while going through his chemo treatments.

block 7 is great - I really like the fabric you choose for it. My blocks are never perfect either. I can never figure out why.

That skirt fabric is absolutely beautiful! If it were me I would have a problem committing to a project for it because I would be too afraid to mess it up!

I love the pattern and think it would look great as a dress if you just lengthened it. Your sewing buddy is so cute!!
