The last hurrah - before the start of First Grade!

We said "goodbye" to our 'pet' writing spider Friday afternoon, and headed up to the lake house with one of Taylor Anne's friends to keep her company.

While Mike, Taylor Anne, and Zoe were putting the boat in the water, Anderson and I had some exploring time. He found some dandilions - so weird to find them late in the summer! Zoe and Taylor Anne after they got back with the boat. We then headed into town to visit the grocery store and order a pizza for dinner. The pizza we ordered from Gino's was really good - and huge! The kids ate it up - even the crust!

The kids watching the water behind the boat. We went to the little beach on Saturday for a lunch picnic and swimming in the afternoon.

A little game of peek-a-boo before swimming!

Anderson had a blast digging in all of the freshly raked sand.

Zoe and Taylor Anne had a really great time!

Later that evening, We had a picnic on the point near the little beach. Martha brought some dinner - thanks!

Saturday night we made S'mores and roasted marshmallows! Yum!

My boy loves riding in the boat, and Sunday morning we decided to try our hand at finding our first Letterbox. Luckily it was at the same park we visit when we go to the little beach, so we took the boat instead of driving! We were sad to find an empty spot, the box was gone! I have emailed the person who placed the box so they know it is missing. If you haven't heard of Letterboxing - check out www.letterboxing.org. I'm sure I'll post about this more in the future, because we did have fun following the clues and going on the 'treasure hunt'. We will have to get a stamp for our family, and go on more letterboxing adventures closer to home!

Oh yeah - about the title of the post - Taylor Anne started First Grade today! She was very excited to get into the new classroom and get to know her new teachers. She's in a class which has 1st and 2nd graders in it, so she will still have some of the multilevel interaction that I think is so wonderful in the Montessori education. I'm thrilled at this because we were told at the end of last year that they would most likely be one-grade classrooms this year.

Great photos....your children are beautiful. I heard about letterboxing for the first time last week. I will read up on it to find out more. It sounds like a fun thing to do.

The little ones are darling. I can't believe it is time for school already. Where did the summer go?

I, too, am going to have to check out letterboxing. It sounds interesting.

What crafty fun do you have planned for the fall?

I love that you are letter
boxing. Have you heard of geocaching? We are all into it and I have now found caches in 9 different countries. I am not sure how many states but I have already loaded my GPS with caches for our trip to Alaska. IF you don't know about geocaching go to geocaching.com and check it out!!!! IT is fun and the kids love it. Sarabethis the one that got us hooked and her kids love it.

I can't believe you guys are already back to school. I think we have almost another month. Love you, Mollie
