Whoa Nellie!

Ok - first off - I want to say "Thank You" to each of you who commented about my last post! I really appreciate the support and concern and thoughtfulness from all of you! I realize now after reading that post again, and talking to my very levelheaded sister (who adds another perspective) that I was in one heckofa funk that day, and I think it all came out in that post! But, that's not to say that I didn't mean those things - it just means that I was maybe a little melodramatic about the issue.

Taylor Anne is doing really well in her school - and her teachers are really great, they're working with her to find a system that works for her to control her behavior. I think they understand that it's hard for her to concentrate and stay on task, so that's why we're trying this reward system. They know she's a smart cookie, so they've moved her up to the next grade level's work so she can feel challenged and not bored to death. They make sure to communicate with me WHENEVER needed - whether it means shooting me an email or sending a note home from school, they're great about communication. We're working together to try and help Taylor Anne without overwhelming her at the same time.

I need to realize that I have to stop putting my 20+ years old issues into her - she's NOT me all over again... Right now she's excelling in school - she's not struggling... she's not frustrated most of the time... she's happy most of the time! I need to step back and let the system try to work before I make a rash decision. Now - that being said, I am going to continue looking at homeschooling options and curriculums just in case. That way if she's not able to continue to be challenged and excel in school, we'll have another option available.

Now... if I can just get my sewing room organized, I think I might be crafty this weekend!

I agree with the first commenter-your blog is a place to work out ideas and thoughts. I hope things improve at school for Taylor Anne.

Em, you'll have to keep us updated on how her year is going. I fear that I might be the same way. I had a very hard time in grade school and I don't want to freak out if my kids have a little trouble...

Good for you for taking a step back. I'm sure it will make TA more relaxed about it too.

Hey Em- you can ALWAYS tell us how you feel, because there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! I think that is one of the reasons that many of us are drawn to "blogland" in general- where else in our everyday lives could we work through such details and stories- or even mention our problems or concerns? The wonderful thing about posting is that we can take time to think and revise and then finally click that "post" button. There can be no doubt in anyone's mind that you only want the best for TA and every day you will be thinking of how you will accomplish that. We benefit from seeing our own lives from others' perspectives.
