A little bummed and bugged...

Here's an update on the chicken ark we're working on - it's busy season for Landscapers, so Mike's been really well, busy, and hasn't had as much time to work on the ark as he or I would like. Anyway - here's our progress as of tonight (sorry, I took these pictures at night): This is the "front" both the top and bottom sections lift up (only the center of the bottom) to allow access to the inside of the coop. You can click to embiggerate.
This is the 'back' of the coop - these sides are stationary, they don't lift up or move or anything.
This is one end of the coop - Mike has started framing in a door to the nesting area, and the bottom of this side will be framed-in fencing. The other end will also have a nest-box door, but the bottom will be able to open somehow...
I'm not really too bugged about it taking a little while because we don't have any chickens to put in it yet anyway (although I do have a friend who is offering me a few). What I'm bummed about is the email I got this afternoon - the chicks I ordered aren't coming in tomorrow morning as planned. The hatchery's hatch rate wasn't very good this week, so they didn't have enough to send us our order! UGH! My brooder is ready - My kids are excited - I'm excited and ready - I bought a bag of chick feed yesterday! ARGH! So... I'm bummed... and a little bugged that they didn't let us know until the night before the chicks were supposed to arrive! (they knew all day yesterday at least!)
Here's another, completely different reason to be 'bugged': check out this beauty Taylor Anne found yesterday in our lantana:

We aren't bothered by the Praying Mantis, our lantanas are covered with butterflies, moths, bumble bees, whatever - plenty to allow her/him to have a share of the goodies. This is now the season of sharing isn't it?

Courage! If you build it they will come... that may be from a movie (wink), but I am sure it's true. Before you know it, these waiting days will be a feint memory.

Hey, you have lantana. What's it like? I read somewhere it smells funny but the flowers are so beautiful. Is it an invasive vine or a fun plant for the yard?

Your ark looks great! So sorry about the chick delay. I've been anxiously awaiting their arrival. Did they give you a new date?
