I admit it, I'm an ADHD Quilter...

Ha ha... I'm laughing at myself today... I cleaned out my sewing room, hoping to paint it sometime soon, but I also organized some of my fabrics and shelves. While doing that, I 'found' my unfinished quilts. Yes, that's plural... there is more than one UFO in my sewing room. I will not fess up to how many right now.

It's apparent with my crafting and going back to school that my ADHD has never really gone away as I used to think. I was on Ritalin for about 10 years and some days I wish I had a pill that could help me still! I have figured out some coping mechanisms like using organization tools, using highlighters when I'm reading textbooks, taking notes on important things, multitasking to keep busy, having music playing for 'background'... hmm, there are probably others, but I can't think of them right now. My craft room is where most of my randomness is shown most clearly, as it's not that organized, and there are several unfinished projects around. I really don't like unfinished projects, especially when it comes to functional projects (construction, painting, fixing things that are broken) around the house! I'm telling myself that quilts and sewing projects don't really count in that category, but it does bother me that these more creative projects are still hanging around... I HAVE been busy with other things... (School, Job, Girl Scouts, being a Mom, etc.)

Anyway, I pulled out some gorgeous star quilt blocks which were a part of the Star Quilt Along by Crazy Mom Quilts.... this one was started back in the spring of 2008! Apparently I got sidetracked before finishing! I do have 9 main star blocks and 12 setting blocks finished, so I think I'll work on this quilt while I have a little bit of a break from school, instead of painting the room. I ironed the blocks, and now I need to find the rest of the fabric I was using. That will be like a treasure hunt, I hope I can find enough to finish the quilt!

Here are the blocks I've completed: (yes, that's my basement floor - I know it's ugly!)

I'm teaching Taylor Anne how to iron the scraps I found, She said she wants to learn how to sew... might as well teach her to iron first...

I wonder if anyone else out there is still working on this quilt...? Am I the only ADHD quilter out there who has several unfinished projects? It's a challenge - if you have something you're 'still working on' and it's been quite a while, blog about it!

They only determined that ADHD applies to quilters after seeing my mess.

I am also ADHD when it comes to styles - Asian & batiks are no more, but black & whites, brights, novelties, Taupes & a few others are allstill fair game.

I am just about ready to give up on CW repros...
